Super Mario Galaxy Film Preview Is Here, Unveiling Fresh Faces Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Actors
The collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination unveiled the debut comprehensive teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. This occurred during a special Nintendo Direct that highlighted the forthcoming animated feature.
The sequel to the 2023 hit film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this fresh entry will transport Mario to the far corners of the universe. In his journey, he meets a new princess and a formidable new rival in Bowser Jr., the son of the King of the Koopas.
A Cosmic Adventure Drawing from Beloved Titles
Much like the games from the Wii period that serve as its inspiration, Mario will leave behind the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. During his grand adventure, he will meet again some well-known personalities, including the Luma, a popular character from the original cinematic release.
But it appears Mario and his sibling Luigi will face a fresh enemy in the form of Bowser's angry little boy, who seemingly commands metallic abilities. Worth mentioning, the preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not only concentrated on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also contains hints to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
All-Star Vocal Ensemble Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers
The movie will feature once again of the original voice cast, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Joining the cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to play Bowser Jr. It was announced by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.
A Significant Period for Mario
Mario's latest cinematic adventure is planned to debut around the time of the four-decade milestone of the initial Super Mario Bros. release. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 promises to be a significant year for Mario and his companions.
The company has a set of three fresh titles publicly declared for 2026, such as Mario Tennis Fever, a Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a latest Yoshi adventure game titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Release Date Confirmed
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is scheduled to hit theaters on April 3, 2026.
