BF6 Gamers Concur: Missions Are Overly Demanding

The debut of the highly anticipated Battlefield 6 received broad praise, especially for its top-tier multiplayer mode. Just on Steam, live player figures surged to nearly 750,000. Yet, despite its popularity, a growing number of players are protesting against some of the game's toughest challenges, which are mandatory to obtain particular firearms.

Gamers have begun resorting to tailored sessions set up using Battlefield Portal to complete them, emphasizing just how demanding these assignments have become.

Comprehending BF6 Objectives

Missions serve as Battlefield 6's ongoing multiplayer objectives, as opposed to the periodically changed daily and weekly challenges. There are four classes of assignments, but where most simply offer cosmetics and some tools, achieving the firearm tasks is the exclusive means of obtaining 12 of the 41 main guns available in the game.

A number of these gated guns may soon earn a place on rankings for the best guns in Battlefield 6.

Gamer Backlash via Reddit

Over on Reddit, players are reasonably voicing their concerns about how difficult and grindy some of these challenges are. One user highlighted one of the most extreme examples, needed to obtain the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Neutralize 300 foes with LMGs
  • Inflict 10,000 hipfire damage with LMGs

"This task is so terrible and entirely ill-conceived, I want to gouge my eyes out," is a quote that summarizes just how annoyingly hard these tasks are.

The suppression feature in the game is weaker than it's ever been in the series, so it lacks nearly as many advantages in battle as it used to in previous games. It only tallies as suppression if you fail to hit several consecutive shots.

Meanwhile, hipfiring an LMG is wildly inaccurate and is effective only at point-blank proximity, which is not usually a position you aim to be. That player also highlighted the irony in the SMG challenge, required for the SCW-10, which needs takedowns using ADS, when that challenge would be considerably more fitting to hipfire kills, and the other way around.

Another Overly Demanding Challenge

One more community participant brought attention to another ridiculously tough challenge, this time in the sniper rifle category to unlock the PSR:

  • Achieve 150 headshot eliminations over 200m with sniper rifles

This is challenging enough as it is, but there's an additional crucial factor to consider: the majority of Battlefield 6 maps do not even allow combat at those extended distances.

There's a healthy variety of map sizes, but because there are just nine maps in the game right now, it implies you must stick to playing one of the larger locales, a particular valley environment, and maybe Operation Firestorm if you're lucky if you plan to engage from afar from a significant distance.

The Workaround

There is a workaround though: the portal. The custom game creator is a tool that allows you to design tailored experiences on the battleground of your choice, featuring computer-controlled players. This implies you can exploit the mechanics… but it doesn't really seem like the intended gameplay experience.

But when doing the challenges in a normal session appears to work against fun, since you are forced to participate in such an unorthodox manner that offers no advantage to anyone, who can blame someone for completing them in a personal session so squad members are not disadvantaged?

Upcoming Tweaks

It should not be shocking if several of these tasks are adjusted to be less difficult in the coming days or weeks, because unless they are modified, certain gamers simply will never acquire the restricted guns.

At the moment, the community continues to voice their opinions on these strenuous multiplayer missions, anticipating a more balanced gaming experience in subsequent patches.
